The President General of the Urhobo Progress Union, Chief Barr. Ese Gam has decribed the former President General, Chief Joe Omene as one of the pillars of Urhobo Nation, Chief Ese Gam made this assertion when members of the newly inaugurated UPU exco paid a courtesy visit to the former President General at his country home in Mosogar, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta on Friday, July 21st,  2023.
The President General in his speech said that Chief Joe Omene was one of the best Urhobo elders to be reckoned with. "He is not a push over, he stands for the truth, fights for the rights and interest of the Urhobos, we are proud to have him in a time like this", he added.
We would not take any decision without consulting Chief Joe Omene, his wisdom is very crucial and vital for the smooth running of the union he added.
Responding, Chief Joe Omene thanked the President General and his  excos for their visit and for promising to seek his counsel when taking crucial decision.

He also used the opportunity to call on sons and daughters of Urhobo origin to support the Sheriff Oborevwori led administration.
"It is the turn of the Urhobos, an Urhobo son has emerged as Governor of Delta State, it is only proper that we support him irrespective of party affiliation.

The Urhobos must rally round to support their son and ensure that his administration his successful, he added.
Excos present include Olorogun Isaac Itebu, Olorogun Abel Opuidi, Chief Hon Eunice Okoh, Olorogun Barr. Emmanuel Omovie, Olorogun Austine Atiti, Hon Josephine Uduaghan, Barr. Andrew Opuidi, and Olorogun Felibens Edeheri Okoro.
