Walter Augoye has stated that the appointment of Chief Julius Egbedi as commissioner on the Board of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to represent Sapele, Okpe, and Ethiope West Local Government Areas by His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State is the best thing that has ever happened to the Okpe people.
Walter Augoye stated this when members of Host Communities Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) Okpe, paid a courtesy visit to Hon Julius Egbedi at his residence in Sapele on Saturday, 22nd, 2023 to congratulate him on his recent appointment on the Board of DESOPADEC.
Speaking accordingly, Walter Augoye said, "the name Julius Egbedi is one to be reckoned with, he is a fine gentle man that has written his name positively in the political history of Delta State".
His antecedents and political reputation precedes him. His receptive nature, and the hospitality he has shown us today has further confirmed what the people have been saying about him.
Hitherto, I have heard people saying that Hon Julius Egbedi is a fine gentle man with calm disposition, very receptive, accessible, accommodating and generous and witnessing everything he has done today, I want to say that I concur.
His appointment on the board of DESOPADEC to represent the Okpe people is a blessing, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori made the right decision when he appointed him, and we are very elated that he is our representative.
We would give him our unalloyed support and work in synergy with him to ensure that everyone residing in oil bearing communities enjoys the dividends of democracy, he said.

Responding, Chief Julius Egbedi thanked members of HOSTCOM Okpe for their visit, stating that they will get what is due to them from DESOPADEC.
DESOPADEC is an interventionist board, it was created to meet the needs and aspiration of people from oil bearing communities. I want to assure you that HOSTCOM Okpe will get their fair share of what is due to them from DESOPADEC, he said.

The Sheriff Oborevwori's administration will witness massive infrastructural development and HOSTCOM will not be left out. I urge you all to work with me, together we can achieve success, Egbedi said.

Those present during the courtesy visit include comrade James Egbedi, Victor Omugheli, Benson Ugholo, Lucky Aragba, Obero Martins, Mary Otikiri, Forgive Etatowhoma, Tina Agise, Josephine Oke, John Eru and Amrevuraire Sunday John.
