SUSTAIN CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AKPONOVO URGES FORUM OF EDUCATION OFFICERS IN DELTA

Education Officers in Delta State have been urged to play pivotal role of agents of change in the society at all times and sustain their contributions towards the growth and development of the education sector in the state.
The State Chairman of Education Officers Forum, Comr. Anthony Akponovo gave the admonition in Asaba while inaugurating the executives of Ministries of Basic and Secondary Education, Higher Education and Technical Education chapters.
Comr. Akponovo, who said that education officers forum was a formidable professional body , explained that the forum had the wherewithal to compete favourably with other professional bodies in the state and beyond.
While reiterating the resolve of the forum to always operate an open door policy for the benefits of every member of the forum, Comr. Akponovo,who is the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education , advised them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues and carry their them along in the scheme of things.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Comr. Romanus Alika said that the official inauguration was a great milestone in the collective efforts to improve the professional status of the education officers.
Comr. Alika reaffirmed the determination of his executives to ensure that the welfare of the members was adequately catered for, adding that the chapter EXCO under his watch in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education would bridge the gap between the management and the officers.
He said that the forum would ensure the reinstatement of positions meant for education officers that were either vacant /moribund or scrapped, improve staff welfare especially when they embarked on official assignments, training of officers , tackle extortion of education officers and familiarisation tour to the 25 field offices of the Ministry among others.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the forum in Ministry of Higher Education, Comr. Collins Enekorogha and the Chairman of the education officers forum in Ministry of Technical Education, Comr. Emmanuel Osakwe said that they had hit the ground running by interfacing with their Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries with a view to collaborating on areas that were germane to the growth of the education system in the state.
They hinted that they had already opened professional WhatsApp platform to reach out to all education officers in their ministries, stressing that they would not only promote things that had to do with the welfare of their members but also strengthen the existing unity among them .
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the education officers forum of Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Comr. Ethe Ikede, who lauded education officers in the various education ministries for finding them worthy to serve, emphasised the importance of synergy between the executives and members for the overall benefits of the members of the forum.
