Breaking: Buhari directs CBN to recirculate old N200 notes till April 10th

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday directed the Central Bank of Nigeria to allow the continuous use of the old N200 notes as a legal tender until April 10th, 2023.

He also directed the apex bank to recirculate the old N200 notes as part of measures to cushion the impact of the scarcity of the new naira notes following the redesigning of the naira.

Mr. President gave the directive on Thursday in a National Broadcast, stressing that the old N500 and N1,000 will no longer be accepted as legal tender.

There had been public outcry over the new CBN policy over the scarcity of the new naira notes across country which has resulted in protests in some part of the nation.
