There are indications that the former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Monday Igbuya, have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, and returned to the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the State.
Igbuya who was sighted with Andrew Odibo, another politician in PDP in a viral photo with the Delta State APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on Sunday was said to have met the Deputy Senate President at his abode in Warri to pledge his loyalty, as part of his return.
The meeting was said to have been facilitated by an APC chieftain in the state who left the PDP years ago, who had earlier informed Senator Omo-Agege of the new development in the party.
The former Speaker did not pick his call when vanguard tried reaching out to him to react but Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Delta Central APC chairman confirmed that Igbuya had decided to dump the PDP again.
"Yes, he has come back to the party again, this I can authoritatively tell you" he said when Vanguard reached out to him
Recall that Igbuya had left the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC in 2018 a year after he was impeached as the speaker of the house and replaced by the current Delta State House of Assembly Speaker and gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
He later obtained an APC nomination forms and contested for the seat of Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie federal constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives, which he lost.
Meanwhile the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor, and chairman of Sapele PDP Campaign Council, Chief Cyril Ogodo while responding said Igbuya return to APC was good riddance to bad rubbish, adding that the former local government chairman has no political value.
"Igbuya leaving the party is a journey into abyss politically, it's certainly a journey he will regret, moreover he is of no political value, you remember when he left in 2018 to contest the House of Rep, APC got less than 7,000 votes while PDP got over 20,000 votes so he is of no value, he does not add up" Ogodo said.
