The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Delta State, Isaiah Bozimo Esq., has sought for a robust Partnership between the members of the International Federation Of Women lawyers (FIDA ) and the Ministry of Justice in advancing the course of humanity and the Administration of Justice in the State.
Bozimo who played host to the State Executive of FIDA in his office at Asaba, stated that the role of the group has been remarkable and outstanding particularly their dogged fight for the oppressed and the vulnerable ones in the State and Nigeria in particular.
He congratulated FIDA for birthing a new chapter in Warri with a staff of the Ministry as the Chairperson.
He said he was confident that the Chairperson of the Warri branch will do the Ministry of Justice proud by taking FIDA to the next level even as he wished them well in their endeavours.
He praised two FIDA members, Mrs. P. U. Akamagwuna and Mrs Nwanze, staff of the Ministry of Justice whom he said are resourceful persons in the Sexual offences and Gender base Unit and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit
Bozimo said that through the efforts of Mrs Akamagwuna, the Ministry has been able to launch the Sexual Offenders Register in the State.
The Chairperson of FIDA in Delta State, Mrs. Stellamaris Emejuru who spoke earlier, commended the Attorney-General whom she said has done wonderfully well within the short time he has been in office and that FIDA was proud of him.
She appreciated the Attorney -General for his support for FIDA and NBA activities in the State.
Mrs Emejuru added that "In less than two years we came on board, our records spoke for us, and we were allowed to birth another branch. I am glad to tell you that we have been able to birth another branch in Warri”.
The FIDA Chairperson noted that it is pertinent that since they collaborate with the Ministry of Justice, it was necessary that they visited the Attorney- General to inform him on their achievements and also appealed that they join hands in fighting the menace of gender violence and other related issues in the State.
She commended the staff of the Ministry of Justice who are their members for the tremendous assistance they have given to the group.
FIDA Chairperson noted that the group has embarked on sensitization visits to schools across the State as the incidents of infant children being violated even by their own biological fathers is on the increase.
