Press Week: You're Responsible For Decay in Nigeria, Gbagi Tells Journalists

Former Minister of Education (State) and Delta Governorship Aspirant, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi today said Journalists are responsible for the decay in the Country.

Olorogun Gbagi made the assertion during a lecture he delivered at the press week organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Warri Correspondents'Chapel in Uvwie Local Government Area.
He said,"I hold journalists responsible in the dying situation we found ourselves in the society. 

"The problem we have in Delta, 72 percent is Traceable to the misconduct of Journalists.

"Your respect dwindles when you are paid for any story. The ritualist, killings, bribery, bad performances of any government, local, minister, commissioners or what have you, the misconduct of traditional rulers is the fault of the journalist.

"Unless we say the truth to ourselves, we will be wasting our time. Were we to have collectively say no to dubiousness, the state would have been better for it.

"The bad, the good and the ugly that is allowed to happen in our time is in the hands of the journalists. Journalists are more respected in the developed world than the police man.

"Journalists in Delta State under Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, came out that I have a Lion in my House, I have never seen Lion in my life. They say I don't pay salaries, I went on television to say anyone with evidence should come out and I will pay N10 million, nobody came out."

Olorogun Gbagi noted that,"Journalists have a major role to resolve the otherwise of security. Unless, we decide to have a peaceful election, we will have a problem.

"I subject myself to the thinking of Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, that to ignore anybody who makes news, is to ignore the very foundation of your people, to ignore journalists, it is a greatest de-service any government or business man can do to his people.

"Unless we speak the Truth, the wrong choice of a governor in Delta State, will be a calamity. It is difficult to Okowa and Uduaghan to run the State so to dare to give the state to an illetrat so to dare to give it to an illetrat e or give to someone with several case of 

"Okowa never endorsed anybody. It will not happen in our state, I bring you good news, today I am the first person seeking to become governor that has bought nomination form."
